Fingers poised above the keyboard, worriedly stroking each individual key...every moment spent thinking about what to write makes it seem harder than it actually is. A pause, then a sheepish smile as I remember that there is a first time for everything and, assuming that I do not use vulgar language or insult anyone, the worst thing that I can do is to write something that is less than a page-turner. It is my first blog post, and I am hesitant, yet hopeful.
As a teacher (by day, of course), I talk almost constantly. There is probably no other sound that my students hear more often than my voice--not even the sound of a parent's voice! But, with the help of a blog, perhaps I can refrain from "waa-waa"ing on like Charlie Brown's classroom teacher and reinforce lessons learned in a way other than a low, pleasant drone. Maybe I can go one step further than I went in class concerning the Bill of Rights, allowing for student comments on my postings. Perhaps I might even encourage my students to use blogs to complete their reflective assignments in Lit class.
Maybe I can--and maybe I will. How about you? Are you game? As the students told me one day before I attempted a clumsy cartwheel in celebration of some wondrous academic feat they had accomplished, "Ain't nothin' to it but to do it." Awkwardly said...but heartfelt.
See you next post,
